February 2008 UNL Pursues Regional Climate Modeling The National Drought Mitigation Center is involved in a proposal for “Developing a Regional Climate Modeling Facility at UNL” that has been awarded seed funding through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Strategic Research Cluster Grants competition. Dr. Robert Oglesby of Geosciences is the principal investigator. Oklahoma Reviews Drought Plan Effectiveness Oklahoma drought researchers assessed how well the state’s drought plan moderated impacts during drought in 2005-2006, and presented their findings at the recent American Meteorological Society meeting. They concluded that planning ahead to reduce the impacts of drought helped municipal water systems maintain supplies, and that decision-makers had good, timely information throughout the drought. We’ve added their paper, “Weathering Drought: One State’s Experience” to our collection of drought planning resources. © 2008 National Drought Mitigation Center |
