Oklahoma Reviews Drought Plan Effectiveness

Oklahoma drought researchers assessed how well the state’s drought plan moderated impacts during drought in 2005-2006, and presented their findings at the recent American Meteorological Society meeting. They concluded that planning ahead to reduce the impacts of drought helped municipal water systems maintain supplies, and that decision-makers had good, timely information throughout the drought. We’ve added their paper, “Weathering Drought: One State’s Experience” to our collection of drought planning resources.
