National Drought Monitoring System for Drought Early Warning Utilizing NASA Data

The National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Partnership is a collaborative effort aimed at incorporating remote sensing data into the Drought Monitor. Other organizations and efforts include the Earth Resources Observation System of the U.S. Geological Survey and the Climate Prediction Center and the Physical Sciences Division of the Earth System Research Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The lead Principal Investigator for the partnership is Son Nghiem from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The 3-year project is scheduled to last into 2010.
